What does Fintech mean in Greece? Who is interested in it? What’s its potential? What’s the position of universities and research? What’s its impact on the creative industries, tourism and health? What’s its relationship with financial institutions in Greece and abroad? What’s the role of the European Commission and other European initiatives? What’s its connection with existing networks of researchers and businesses? What’s its connection with initiatives in the developing economies of SE Europe?
Six key Greek bodies are taking part in an initiative aiming at showcasing the above issues: National Bank of Greece together with Endeavor Greece, the Onassis Foundation, the Hellenic Chamber of Hotels, the National & Kapodistrian University of Athens, and the Athens University of Economics & Business. And together with these institutions, the European Crowd Dialog initiative.
With a focus on enhancing Fintech entrepreneurship, the financing of innovative businesses in the sector, linking Fintech to research carried out at universities and research centres, fostering awareness of and networking with key networks and initiatives abroad, we have designed a number of actions:
• Financing through Fundraising meetups
• Networking with Italian and Spanish Banks that run similar financing programmes
• Working in tandem with the European Crowd Dialog initiative.
• Keeping people up to date through monthly Fintech Talks (1st Thursday of every month from September onwards 17:00)
• Hosting of special Fintech Workshops for the creative industries and tourism.
The initiative extends an open invitation to all dynamic players in the Greek ecosystem to actively participate as members in the venture.
